Ann Romney has told the American people to “trust” her husband because he is a good man and gives 10% to his church. She referred to us as “You people!” as if we are beneath her in some way. She doesn’t believe he needs to submit any more years of his taxes for the American people to scrutinize. She thinks it will just give more fodder for the Democrats to throw at her husband. I challenge her in all regards to Mitt’s taxes. I recently found out that Bain Capital shares ownership of Clear Channel. Clear Channel is huge and reaches out to most of America through its broadcasting. This statement is at their website:
Wow, with that kind of reach across America we should be worried about any presidential candidate that has ties to this kind of organization. Now you are probably thinking that he gave up those ties long ago. Just how do we know this? He still has many friends with Bain Capital. How do you know that you aren’t being programmed right now by the right wing organizations that seem to be tied to Clear Channel? Frankly, Romney still has close ties with all of the people at Bain and Clear Channel. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/03/06/clear-channel-s-directors-give-big-to-romney-who-won-t-criticize-limbaugh.html
They give him money for his campaigns and of course, that is their right. However, it is also our right to study and understand what makes Romney the man he is today. One way we can find out is by understanding what he’s been doing all of these years. The easiest way to do that is to look at his taxes. I would like to know why he has invested so much money out of the country. I personally find that unpatriotic. You might be thinking about some global investment you have in your stock portfolio. However, that isn’t a fair comparison. He has money held in off shore accounts and in a Swiss bank account. Who has these things? We don’t normally think of our American presidents hiding money in a Swiss bank account. I want to know more about the Romney money and his investments. I don’t want Romney’s wife coming out and treating me with callous indifference as though I shouldn’t worry my pretty little head about her husband’s investments because he is so honorable. If he has nothing to hide, he should release many more years of his taxes.
Years ago, my ex-husband filed a freedom of information act that forced my school to give him copies of my records. It was personally invasive but it was his right. The school let me know and they sent him copies of all of my records including evaluations, etc. Most people would probably find this to be shocking. I must admit I didn’t like it but I had no control over the situation. I am a teacher. School salaries are a matter of public record. Soon parents will be able to see our evaluations as these will be available so parents can see how the individual teachers are “scored” in terms of raising test scores. The public in every way possible scrutinizes teachers, as they are the caretakers of America’s precious children. We have to be finger printed and checked for criminal records. We must have our teaching credentials updated on a regular basis. We must prove that we are highly qualified. Why is it any different for the most important job in the country, the office of the presidency? We, the American people, have a right to know every aspect of Mitt Romney’s life. It may seem invasive to him that we want to know more about his money and taxes but we should not vote for anyone that isn’t willing to show who he really is, and truthfully, “money makes the man”. http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/2012/08/investigating-mitt-romney-offshore-accounts
Just an update:
Today Mitt was asked once again about those pesky taxes. He resorted to name calling and I guess I am one of those “small-minded” American people that want to know more about Mitt’s taxes. Yes, Mitt, we are the “little” people. We teach your kids and grand kids. We are your wait staff. We wash your cars and clean your houses. We farm the food you eat and we police the cities where you live. We are the humble masses yearning to know more than we have been told. If we seem small minded to you, imagine what you seem like to us!
